Duplicating an Event

Starting a new event from one of your own, what is copied across, and what you have to fill in again.

Where to Find It

Duplicate, beside Edit details at the top of Manage on your own event. It works on any event of yours, whatever its status — one that has already run, or one you canceled, as much as one still to come.

It opens the Create Event form already filled in from that event, with a note at the top saying which event it was copied from. Nothing is saved until you press Create draft, so you can change anything first or walk away.

What Comes Across

  • The name, subtitle, discipline and description.
  • The location — venue name, address, town and state.
  • The time zone.
  • The entry fee — free or paid, and the amount.
  • The times of day the event starts and ends.

What Does Not

  • The dates. The start and end dates are left blank for you to fill in, which is why the times are worth a second look once you have. A copy saved with the old dates would be dated in the past.
  • The registration window, dates and times alike. Set a new one if you want registration to open and close by itself.
  • The sanction claim, or a Not sanctioned answer. A copy has been sanctioned by nobody, so the form asks the sanctioning question again. Name the federation if it is sanctioning the new card, and it starts out unconfirmed. See claiming a sanction.
  • The poster. Add one on the form or later. See adding an event poster.
  • The schedule and the officials.
  • Everybody who entered, along with any bouts, announcements and invitations.

It Is a New Event

What you save is a draft of its own, with its own address. It keeps no link to the event you copied: changing one never changes the other, and nothing on the new event says it was copied.

Publishing it works as it does for any new event — it needs a start date and a town, and a free event has its own publish fee. See publishing your event.

Copying an Imported Event

If the event you copy came from Webpoint, the copy does not. Its details are not locked, there is no Re-sync from Webpoint, and the sanction confirmation the original had does not come across — the copy is an event you typed in yourself. See importing an event from Webpoint.

BoutHost is combat-sports event management — hosts run events, fighters declare the weight they will compete at, and federations confirm the cards they have sanctioned.
