Sizes, formats, where it appears, and what we do to the file before storing it.
Upload a poster on the create or edit form for your event. It appears on the public events listing as a tile, and on your event's own page at full size — where a visitor can open the image to read it.
Posters are optional. An event with none shows a placeholder tile on the listing and no poster section on its page.
Your image is never cropped. A flyer is mostly text — the date, the venue, the sponsors — and a crop eats precisely that. It is fitted whole, over a blurred copy of itself where the shape does not match.
The thumbnail on the form is small on purpose, and none of the text on a flyer is readable at that size. Click it to see the full image before you save.
Every image is re-encoded before it is stored. It is not kept as you sent it.
The main reason is metadata. A photograph of a flyer taken on a phone carries the GPS coordinates of wherever it was taken, and serving that file unchanged would publish somebody's location beside their event with nothing on screen hinting at it. Re-encoding removes it.
It also fixes rotation. A portrait phone photo often has its orientation stored as a tag rather than in the pixels — so it looks right in your own file browser and would have appeared sideways on the web.
Choosing a new file replaces the old one. There is a separate control to remove the poster entirely, and choosing a replacement takes precedence over a pending removal.
Your poster appears in the preview as soon as you choose it, but it is not stored until you press Save changes. The edit form says so: once anything on it has changed, the Save bar follows you down the page and reads "Unsaved changes", and trying to leave asks you first.
The create and edit forms are the only place a poster is set. Manage shows the poster read-only with a link to the edit form — useful if the flyer came in with an import and is not one you chose.
If your event came from Webpoint and their record has an image, it is fetched and offered as the event's poster. Keep it, or pick your own — choosing your own file replaces it completely, including the record of where it came from.
Most events have no image at their federation, so most imports arrive with an empty poster field. That is normal and not an error.
Adding, replacing or removing a poster sends no email and does not affect a sanction claim.
