Posting Announcements

Posting updates to your event page, choosing whether to email the people who have entered, and editing or removing a post.

Where to Find It

The Announcements card on Manage, on your own event. Use it for anything the people following your event should know — a change of plan, where to park, what to bring.

Each announcement is its own dated post, so a fighter coming back to the page can see what is new rather than rereading a block of text.

Writing One

  • Heading — optional. A short line such as “Weigh-ins moved to 3pm”.
  • Announcement — the text itself, required. Line breaks you type are kept.

Press Post announcement.

It Is Shown Publicly

Your announcements appear on your event page, in an Announcements section, newest first. Anyone who can see the event page can read them, signed in or not. Each one shows when it was posted.

The page does not say who wrote a post, or whether it was emailed. While nothing is posted, the event page has no Announcements section at all.

Telling Your Registrants

Once anybody has entered, a checkbox appears under the form: Also notify everyone holding a place. It is unticked by default, because most posts are worth a line on the page and not an email to everybody.

Tick it, and the post goes straight away to every fighter with a live entry — pending or approved. Withdrawn and rejected fighters are not sent it. Each of them gets it in their bell, and by email unless they have switched off announcement emails in their own settings. The email carries your heading and your text, with a link to the event page.

Leave it unticked, and nobody is told — not by email and not in the bell. The post is on the event page for whoever looks.

The schedule works the other way round: its notify switch starts ticked, because a moved weigh-in is something a fighter has to act on. See building the event schedule.

Editing a Post

Press Edit on a post, change it, and press Save. The event page then shows that it was edited, and when.

Editing never sends anything, even if the original was emailed. Anyone who got the original still has it, which is why the page says the post was edited, and why the edit form reminds you of this before you save a post that was emailed. If a correction matters, post a new announcement and tick the box.

Under each post on Manage you can see when it was posted, whether it was edited, and whether it was emailed to registrants or not emailed.

Removing a Post

Press Remove. A window asks you to confirm, says the post comes off the event page, and — if it was emailed — that the email stays in everybody’s inbox. Press Remove announcement to go ahead, or Keep it.

Removing takes the post off the event page completely. It cannot be put back; post it again if you need to.
