Deleting Your Account

Where to delete your account, what you confirm, which accounts cannot be deleted and why, and what is removed and what stays.

Where It Is

Open Settings → Profile and scroll to the bottom. Under Danger zone is Delete account.

Deleting is permanent. There is no undo, and nothing is removed until you have confirmed it.

Confirming

Choosing Delete account opens a dialog headed Are you sure?. What it asks for depends on how you sign in:

  • If your account has a password, enter it under Confirm your password.
  • If you sign in only through Webpoint, there is no password to check, so type the word delete instead. Capitals do not matter.

Then choose Delete account in the dialog. Cancel closes it and changes nothing. Once the account is deleted you are signed out and taken to the home page.

When an Account Cannot Be Deleted

Some accounts hold a record that belongs to an event, or to another person, as much as to you. Removing the account would destroy somebody else’s record of what happened, so BoutHost does not offer the button. In its place you see a note saying why. The account cannot be deleted if:

  • You organize an event. An event keeps its organizer on record. An event you have deleted no longer counts; one that is canceled still does. See deleting or canceling your event.
  • You have entered an event, including an entry you later withdrew from or that was rejected. Withdrawing does not change this: the entry stays on that event’s record.
  • A payment is recorded against your account.
  • You have a payout account with our payment processor.
  • You have claimed a sanction for an event.
  • You have posted an announcement on an event page.
  • You have reported somebody, whether a profile or a message.

If more than one applies, the note names one of them.

What Is Removed

  • Your name, email address and sign-in details.
  • Your profile photo, which is taken off the site.
  • Your public profile page, and any fighter or coach profile.
  • The federations connected to your account, and your roles.
  • Event invitations you were sent, and anybody you had blocked.

Your email address is then free to use for a new account.

What Stays

Messages you sent. A conversation belongs to both people in it, so what you wrote stays in the other person’s inbox, shown as coming from Deleted account. Deleting a conversation from your own inbox first does not change that, because it only ever removes your copy; see messaging and notifications.

Messages you sent to support through the contact form are kept, so they can still be read and answered.

BoutHost’s record of changes to an account’s access, such as roles granted, is kept as an audit trail, as the privacy policy describes.

Your federation membership. It is held by your federation, not by BoutHost, and deleting your BoutHost account does not touch it.

Signing In with Webpoint Afterward

If you signed in through Webpoint, deleting your account signs you out of your federation’s Webpoint site in that browser as well, the same way Log out does.

If you choose Sign in with Webpoint again later, you sign in to Webpoint first, and BoutHost then creates a new, empty account: nothing from the deleted one comes back.

If something you need is stopping you from deleting your account, or you are not sure what is held about you, contact support.

BoutHost

BoutHost is combat-sports event management — hosts run events, fighters declare the weight they will compete at, and federations confirm the cards they have sanctioned.
