Your Public Profile

What a Profile Is

Anyone competing on a published event, or running one, has a page of their own on BoutHost. Clicking somebody's name on a competitor list or a bout card opens it.

You can also search for people at Find people, by name or by gym.

Who Gets One

A profile exists for somebody who is already on a public page:

• you have entered an event, and that event has been published, or
• you have published an event of your own.

Creating an account does not create a profile. If neither of those is true of you — a coach, for instance — you can ask for one under Settings → Privacy.

What It Shows

For somebody 18 or over, a profile can show:

• your name and your photo
• your gym, and the town it is in
• the win/loss/draw record you entered yourself, marked as self-reported
• the weight you say you compete at
• your gender, height, reach and stance
• anything you have written about yourself
• the roles you have chosen
• the events you have entered, and any you have published

Everything on that list comes from you. Nothing on a profile is checked by BoutHost, and the roles shown are the ones you ticked rather than qualifications anybody has verified.

What It Never Shows

Your date of birth, your age, your email address, your postal address and your phone number are never on a public page. Neither is your membership standing with a federation, and neither is anything a host has written privately about a bout.

Competitors Under 18

A competitor under 18 has a profile showing only their name, their gym and their record — the same three things the competitor list for their event already shows. There is no photo, no description, no town and no event history, and they do not appear in search results.

The same applies to anybody whose date of birth we do not hold, because we cannot tell how old they are.

Their name is still a link, exactly like everybody else's. That is deliberate: if it were not, the competitor list would be showing you which entrants are children.

Keeping Yourself Out of Search

Settings → Privacy has a switch for it. Turning it off keeps you out of the Find people results and out of search engines.

It does not take your name off the events you enter. Your profile can still be opened by clicking your name there, because entering a published event is what makes it public in the first place — a switch here cannot undo that. If you would rather not appear publicly at all, the answer is not to enter a public card.

Your Gym

Pick your gym on Settings → Profile. Start typing its name and choose it from the list; if it is not there yet, add it with its town and everybody else can pick it afterwards.

A gym is shared, so correcting its name or its town fixes it for everyone who trains there. Adding one does not say the gym is yours, and nothing on BoutHost checks that you train where you say — like the rest of a profile, it is your own statement.

Leaving it blank is fine. Your profile and your entries simply do not mention a gym.

Your Photo

The same page has a switch for your photo. A photo is only ever shown for somebody 18 or over whose date of birth we hold, so for a younger competitor the switch has no effect and the page says so.

Reporting a Profile

If you are signed in, there is a Report this profile link at the foot of every profile but your own. Tell us what you noticed — a photo that is not of that person, a description that should not be there, an age that looks wrong.

A member of staff reads it. Reporting something does not hide it and does not change the page, and the person reported is not told who reported them.
