Your Privacy Settings

Where to Find It

Settings → Privacy. It covers what people who are not signed in can see about you, and who can get in touch. Change the switches you want, then press Save.

Your Photo

Show my photo publicly. Your photo can appear beside your name on the public page of an event you enter, and on your own profile page. Switch this off and your initials are shown there instead.

You add or change the photo itself on Settings → Profile.

Being Found

List my profile in search. People can search for competitors by name at Find people. Turning this off keeps you out of those results.

It does not take your name off the events you enter. Your name still appears there, and your profile can still be opened by clicking it.

Invitations from Organizers

Let organizers invite me to their events. An organizer filling a card can search the directory and email you an invitation to enter their event. An invitation is only a message: it does not enter you into anything, and you would still register yourself.

Organizers find people through the same search as Find people, so if you are not listed in search, they cannot find you to invite you either.

Messages

Let other people message me. Anybody listed in the directory can send you a message on BoutHost. Switching this off stops new messages, including replies in conversations you already have. Your existing conversations stay in your inbox, and you can still write to other people.

Only people listed in search can be messaged, so if you switch that off, nobody can message you either.

Blocked People

If you have blocked anybody, they are listed here. Neither of you can message the other, and they cannot invite you to an event. They have not been told.

Press Unblock beside a name to remove the block. You block somebody from the menu at the top of a conversation.

Your Profile

This section only appears if you do not have a public profile yet. Profiles are made for people who enter an event or publish one, and Give me a public profile lets you ask for one now — which is what a coach would do.

When a Switch Has No Effect

Some of these switches cannot do anything for you yet, and when that is the case the screen tells you why, right under the switch. For example:

• No photo yet. There is nothing to show until you add one.
• No public profile yet. There is nothing to list, and nobody can find you to invite or message you.
• No date of birth. Until you add one on Settings → Profile, your photo stays private, you are not listed in search, organizers cannot invite you, and nobody can message you — nor can you message anybody.
• Under 18. A photo is never shown publicly, and nobody under 18 is listed in search, invited by organizers, or able to send or receive messages on BoutHost, whatever these switches say.

What Cannot Be Hidden

Your name, the weight you declare, your record and your gym are always shown on the public page of an event you enter, and on your profile. They are what an organizer matches bouts from, so there is no switch for them. The privacy policy, linked from the bottom of the page, has the full detail.
