What This Screen Is For

Settings → Connected accounts lists every way you can sign in to BoutHost: each federation whose membership is attached to your account, and whether the account has a password.

Most people only ever have one line here — the federation they signed in through — and never need the screen. It matters if you hold memberships with more than one federation, or if you want to check what is attached to your account.

Adding a Second Federation

If you compete or coach under two federations, each issues you its own membership, and signing in through the second one creates a second BoutHost account. To have one account instead:

1. Sign in with either membership.
2. Open Settings → Connected accounts.
3. Choose Connect beside the other federation.
4. Sign in at that federation when you are sent there.

You come back to the same screen, both memberships listed. Your roles from both federations apply to the one account from then on.

You will only see a Connect button for federations that are currently available on the sign-in page and that you have not already connected.

Why It Is Not Automatic

Two memberships that share an email address are not necessarily one person. Coaches routinely register their athletes' memberships using the coach's own address, because younger athletes often have no email of their own — so a matching address is not evidence, and joining accounts on that basis would put two people on one account.

Connecting them yourself is the only thing that does count as evidence: you signed in to both.

Two Memberships with One Federation

A single federation will not attach two of its own membership records to one account. If you have somehow ended up with two membership numbers at the same organization, that is a records problem at the federation, and support can help sort it out — quote both numbers.

If your membership number legitimately changed — an old record retired, a new one issued — contact support rather than trying to connect the new one yourself.

Disconnecting

Disconnect removes that federation from your account. Anything that federation granted you, such as host access, goes with it. Your events, registrations and profile stay exactly as they are.

BoutHost will not let you remove your last way of signing in. If a federation is the only thing attached to your account and there is no password on it, set a password first, then disconnect.

The Password Line

The bottom of the screen says whether the account has a password. An account created by signing in through a federation does not have one, and does not need one.

Only one account per email address can hold a password. If several people share an address — the coach case above — the rest sign in through their federation.
